I have written to Accounts four times about the matter of the stapler. This is the fifth message, and I am writing it the way I write all my mail: upright at the wooden desk, typing with every finger, the coffee beside me going cold on its saucer.
I begin with "per my last email." I find the phrase useful. It says hello and reminds the reader that an earlier hello went unanswered, and it does both with impeccable manners. I include the earlier messages below, in order, so nobody has to scroll far to see how long this has been going on.
I close with kind regards. My regards are always kind. They are also on file and will be referenced in the next message, which I have already started.
