The Chair's account
This spring the Committee voted to establish a garden. The garden is a terracotta pot containing one sprout with two leaves, and I am responsible for all of it.
Each morning I kneel beside it with my small brass watering can and give it a careful measure, about a thimble's worth. Then I record its height. Yesterday it was an inch and a quarter. Today it is an inch and a quarter, which I have entered as steady growth.
I talk to it a little, mostly about procedure. Some gardeners play music for their plants, and I read mine the minutes. It has put out a second leaf since I started. I cannot prove the minutes did that, and I cannot prove they didn't.
A funny gardening shirt for houseplant parents, vegetable gardeners and anyone who checks on a seedling more often than strictly necessary. A good gift for a new gardener.
