The birds in my yard have been living without proper housing for some time. I have decided to address it.
I work seated on a short wooden stool, with the birdhouse in one hand and a small hammer in the other. The plans called for one afternoon. I am now in my third week, which is in line with every home project I have ever started, and I consider the schedule revised rather than missed.
A few spare pieces of wood are lying at my feet. I don't know where they go. The birdhouse looks finished without them, and that worries me more than if it didn't. I have also applied for a permit, since the roof has a slight pitch and I'm not sure where the county stands on that. The birds, meanwhile, have moved into a hedge and seem content.
A funny DIY shirt for woodworkers and weekend fixer-uppers, and for anyone with a half-finished project in the garage. A good gift for a new homeowner.
